দেড় বছর আগেই ডিবিসি চ্যানেলে অনুষ্ঠিত একটি টকশোর ভিডিও ক্লিপ নিয়ে ফেইসবুকে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপক জিয়া রহমানের বিরুদ্ধে আলোচনা এবং সমালোচনা শুরু হয়েছে।

বুধবার সেই আলোচনা সমালোচনা নিয়ে ফেইসবুকে অপরাধ বিজ্ঞান বিভাগের এই অধ্যাপক জিয়া রহমান ফেসবুকে লিখেছেন, "একটি সংঘবদ্ধ গ্রুপ আমার বিরুদ্ধে মিথ্যা অপপ্রচার চালাচ্ছে।তারা পুরো ভিডিও ক্লিপটি না দেখেই একটি অংশকে কেটে তা প্রচার করছে। আমার বিরুদ্ধে কুৎসা রটাচ্ছে। আমি এর তীব্র নিন্দা জানাচ্ছি"।

ভিডিও ক্লিপে তিনি শুদ্ধ ভাবে আল্লাহাফেজ এবং আসসালামুয়ালাইকুম বলাকে জামাত-শিবিরের ডিসকোর্স বলে উল্লেখ করেছেন।

অধ্যাপক জিয়া রহমানের দেয়া ইংরেজি ভাষার স্ট্যাটাসটি পাঠকদের জন্য হুবহু তুলে ধরা হলো।

I am sorry to let everyone know that a group of people diffuses false propaganda against me by extracting few words from one of my talk shows VDO clip aired One and Half Years back. This is ridiculous that they used such an old VDO clip without context in a distorted way. I strongly protested against such heinous act.

In that show I wanted to differentiate the difference between religion as individual's believe, faith and practice vs. religion used by the religion businessmen for political purposes, one that was used during our liberation war. In that show I vividly mentioned that Muslims were victimized severely after 9/11 in terms of hate crime and that triggered the activities of terrorism too. Also killing innocent people in Iraq, Palestine and many other places rendered the terrorist acts in many parts of the world as part of imperialist project is one of my major focus of analyzing terrorism, which I mentioned in many of my presentations, papers and book.

I am a liberal person upholding the spirit of what Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib uttered "I am a Muslim, Bangali and a Human being." I believe Allah doesn't like those people who intentionally demean and defame others.

I believe this is an organized dishonest propaganda that will not be confused by my fb friends and well-wishers. In solidarity with all the rightful causes of the distressed people in the world including the Muslim victims.
